On Thursday, September 19th, OVCA Elementary hosted a stellar S.O.A.R. Family Literacy Night in Tulsa and OKC, with a fun space theme called “Blast Off Into Reading!”

Families kicked off the night at the Launch Pad, signing reading pledges before blasting off into activities like digging for Moon Rocks, a rhyming word game! Students and Learning Coaches got creative with a read-aloud of “Moustronaut” by Mark Kelly, followed by making their own comic strip version of the story. The whole family joined in the Space Race, finding space-themed words for each letter of the alphabet—some of the answers were hilariously out of this world!

At Mission Control, families explored space-themed library books, and the evening wrapped up at Re-Entry, where students took home fun literacy-themed goodie bags, and Learning Coaches grabbed handy literacy tips.

It was a night full of fun, learning, and out-of-this-world memories! 🌙📚✨
