LEAD TEACHERS

Karin Campbell taught in a brick and mortar setting for four years in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She received a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University. She is also certified in Early Childhood Education. This is her 7th year teaching at OVCA. She is the elementary lead teacher for Kindergarten through second grade.

Julie Pfister has taught with OVCA for 9 years. Before joining OVCA, she taught for 9 years in brick and mortar schools in Stillwater, OK and Palm Desert, CA. She received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas. She will serve as a lead teacher for grades 3-5 this year, working with students, families, and teachers to encourage growth and aid families in the transition to virtual school. She and her husband EJ, daughter Janie, and son Jack, live in Edmond.  In her free time she loves to watch her kids play their sports, travel, and spend time with family.

ELEMENTARY TEACHERS AND STAFF

Christi Boggs is a 3rd-5th grade reading interventionist at OVCA. She joined the K12 team in 2018 with 24 years of teaching experience. Mrs. Boggs earned a BA and MA in Elementary Education, and holds certifications in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Math. She has been a National Board Certified Teacher for 14 years.

Jessica Bryant is a 1st grade reading teacher who joined the Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy team in 2015. She brings more than 7 years’ experience in education. Jessica earned her Early Childhood Education degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Stacy Buck is a Math Interventionist for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and began teaching for OVCA in January of 2014.  She is a Northeastern State University graduate with a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and a minor in Psychology. She has taught 25 years, with 19 of those in brick and mortar, teaching grades 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th.  This is her 5th year with OVCA. Stacy lives in Perkins with her husband, Bobby. In her spare time she loves to travel and fish.

Hannah Burkhart is a 1st grade teacher with OVCA. She joined the K12 team in 2018 after being in a brick and mortar school for 4 years teaching 4th grade and 2nd grade. Hannah Burkhart graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education.

Beth Davis is a 5th grade teacher who joined the K12 team in 2012.  She earned her BS degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University. She began her career teaching 3rd and 6th graders in California.  After taking a break from education for many years to raise her children, she returned to her teaching career in 2012 at OVCA.  She has been teaching 5th grade for the past 6 years at OVCA.

Krissi Duff is a 5th grade ELA teacher who joined the K12 team in 2017. She brings 11 years of experience in education from both Texas and Oklahoma. Krissi earned a BS in Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  She holds certificates in Elementary Education along with Early Childhood Education and Mild-Moderate Disabilities.

Jessica Hopkins is a 3rd and 4th grade teacher who joined the K12 team in 2018. She has been teaching in Oklahoma for 4 years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Oklahoma City University, a Master’s in Education from Oklahoma State University and she holds a certificate in elementary education.  She previously taught 4th grade for Skiatook Public Schools.

Amy Lewellen is a 5th grade Math and Reading teacher. She is a new K12 team member who joined us in late August 2018. She has been involved in education in some form for 25 years including working for the University of Oklahoma as well as teaching in both inner city and rural school districts. Amy earned a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and holds a certificate in Elementary Education.

Emily Marks is a 3rd grade reading teacher with OVCA this year. She graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2015 with her Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry. She earned her teaching certificate through Teach for America in 2017. She has been a 4th and 5th grade teacher for 3 years in a brick and mortar school. This will be her first year with OVCA and she will be teaching 3rd grade. She currently lives in Stillwater, Oklahoma with her husband and two sweet dogs, Hawley and Kayden. In her spare time, Emily enjoys camping, hiking, reading, playing guitar, crocheting, and spending time with her husband and pups.

Christina McBride is a 1st grade reading teacher who joined the K12 team in 2018. This is her 10th year in education. Mrs. McBride earned a BA in Elementary Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She holds certificates in Early Childhood and Elementary.

Jera McCann is a Kindergarten teacher who joined the K12 team in 2018. She received a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2012 and has worked with early childhood for over 6 years. Her classroom is a safe, comfortable place where your child can make mistakes, grow, and learn together.

Katy McLain is a 3rd-5th grade Math Interventionist who joined the K12 team in 2018. She has seven years of teaching experience in private and public education. She has taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Katy earned a degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University, and is working towards a master's degree in Educational Administration from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Kelly Pruett is a Northeastern State University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Before coming to OVCA she taught in brick and mortar for 9 years, teaching grades Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade. She has one son, Rhys. She is excited to start her third year of teaching in the virtual world and helping many more students and families gain a love for lifelong learning.  In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors, gardening, watching her son play sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Jennifer Ratzloff is a 3rd grade math teacher who joined the K12 team in 2016.  She brings more than 14 years of experience.  Jennifer had taught special education previously.  She earned an AS in Early Childhood from Conner’s State College, BS in Special Education from Northeastern University, and MA in Elementary Education from Jones International University.  Jennifer holds a certificate in Elementary Education.

Teri Reeves is a 4th grade math teacher. This is her first year at OVCA.  Before returning to teaching, Mrs. Reeves had spent the last 9 years being a stay at home mom to three amazing little boys.  Prior to entering the parenting world, Mrs. Reeves taught one year of 4th grade and 5 years as a 9th grade Algebra teacher.  She earned her BA in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University. 

Kimberly Ring is a 4th grade teacher who joined the K12 team in 2015. Kimberly earned a BA in Elementary Education in 2010 from NWOSU, and a MA in Educational Leadership in 2015 from American College of Education. She is certified in Elementary Education and working on earning her Oklahoma Principal Certification.

Tara Vallandingham is a 2nd grade teacher who joined the K12 team in 2014. Tara earned a BA in Education from Oklahoma Baptist University.  She holds certificates in Early Childhood Education and Mild to Moderate Disabilities. Mrs. Vallandingham has taught for a total of 18 years with years in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades.

Kelley Winsett is a 2nd grade teacher who joined the K12 team in 2016. She brings more than 18 years’ experience in education. She has been a reading coach, a grant coordinator, and has taught grades first through fourth grade. Kelley earned a BA in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University, and a MS in Educational Leadership for Oklahoma State University.

Shari Winters is a Reading Interventionist who joined the K12 in 2018.  She brings more than twelve years’ experience in education.  She has specifically focused on reading instruction for nine of those years. Shari earned a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies and a MA in Elementary Education from Texas Tech University. She holds certificates in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Mrs. Winters taught in the Ada Public School System, in which she taught 3rd and 5th grade. She also was the 3rd and 4th grade Reading teacher at Stonewall Public School.

Kayla Zelnicek is the K-2 reading interventionist at OVCA. She joined the team in 2015 and started as a kindergarten/first grade split. She is currently working on her masters as a Reading Specialist. Mrs. Zelnicek is currently certified to teach early childhood.
