Meet OVCA’s 2025 K12 Robotics League Champions

Stories & Spotlights
Krista and Ayibatari

After months of designing, coding, and testing their virtual robots, the top teams from across the country came together on June 3 at K12 Headquarters in Reston, Virginia, for an epic robotics finale. The energy was high, the competition was tough, and our students truly brought their A-game!

This year’s finalists—nine teams representing three grade bands (4–6, 7–9, and 10–12)— first tackled virtual challenges before shifting gears to face off in person using real EV3 robots on physical mats. It all came down to three action-packed rounds of practice, precision, and performance.

Representing OVCA in the 10–12th grade division were:

  • Krista – 11th grade
  • Ayibatari – 10th grade

Both students brought serious skill and determination to the table. Krista is no stranger to the Robotics League—her team placed second last year. This year? First Place champions!

Guiding their journey was the amazing Mr. Phillip Przybylo, OVCA’s Gifted and Talented Resource Coordinator. Under his leadership, the team not only advanced to two K12 Robotics League finals but also competed in the 2024 World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico. Talk about experience!

Team Hello Kitty’s best score of the day was 60 points, and they wowed the judges with a run time of just 23.53 seconds!

As champions, each team member earned a $500 prize, a K12 Robotics League trophy, and major bragging rights! But more importantly, they walked away with new skills, new friendships, and national recognition.

We couldn’t be prouder of Krista, Ayibatari, and all the OVCA students who poured their heart and talent into this season. They showed us what’s possible with curiosity, perseverance, and teamwork—and we can’t wait to see what they do next.

Let’s hear it for Team Hello Kitty—our champions, our coders, our future!
