Representing OVCA in the 10–12th grade category is team TuxedoSam:

  • Krista, 11th grade OVCA student
  • Ayibatari, 10th grade OVCA student

The road to the finals included three virtual rounds: a friendly exhibition round followed by two competitive qualifying rounds. In each round, teams programmed their robots to complete in timed challenges with speed and precision.

TuxedoSam placed third in the first-round qualifier with a time of 01:21.597 and came back stronger in round two, grabbing first place with a blazing 00:34.652—securing their spot in the championship finals.

TuxedoSam will join the top three teams in each grade band, 4–6, 7–9, and 10–12, to compete for the national championship title. In the final in-person round, these finalists will bring their skills to the real world by coding physical robots on a competition mat.

It all comes down to this: one day, one challenge, and one chance to become national champions. Winners in each grade category will receive $500, a K12 Robotics trophy, and the title of national champion.

We’re cheering on TuxedoSam as it gets ready to represent OVCA on the national stage! With the big day in Virginia just around the corner, let’s show our support and celebrate everything this team has accomplished.

Go, TuxedoSam—we’re rooting for you!
