HOS Audra Plummer on Oklahoma Memo Podcast

Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy (OVCA) was recently featured on the Oklahoma Memo podcast, where Head of School Audra Plummer joined host Ryan Welton for a conversation about the changing landscape of public education in Oklahoma. As more families explore alternatives to traditional brick-and-mortar schools, online learning is emerging as a strong, flexible option that meets students where they are.

During the episode, Audra shared why one in four Oklahoma parents considered full-time online school in 2025 and what today’s virtual classrooms actually look like. She also addressed common misconceptions about online learning and highlighted the ways OVCA students stay connected through live classes, group activities, clubs and statewide events.

“Our students today are connecting, making friends and participating in the K12 Zone,” said Audra. “It’s a great opportunity for them to learn how to navigate the digital world and how to be a positive citizen in this space, which future generations need to know how to do.”

OVCA provides access to opportunities many students might not otherwise have, including Advanced Placement courses, career pathways, NCAA-recognized coursework and individualized support through counseling and student services.

“What makes our program special – and why our teachers stay – is because we’re able to personalize education for our students,” she shared. “They get a program that helps them close gaps in their education while empowering them to pursue what they’re passionate about.”

The result is a growing, statewide school community where thousands of Oklahoma students are learning, discovering their strengths and building confidence each day.
