Sheryl Tatum is the Head of School and has 12 years of experience in education. She has had the opportunity to serve Oklahoma students as an elementary teacher, Gifted and Talented coordinator, and academic director. She earned her BS in elementary education from Eastern New Mexico University in 1996, and her master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2000. In 2003, Sheryl obtained National Board Certification.
Audra Plummer is the Deputy Head of Schools. She has been with OVCA since 2009. Before becoming the Deputy Head of Schools, she served as OVCA Elementary Principal for 4 years. Prior to working at OVCA, she taught in public schools for 14 years in the Norman Public Schools. She has received a Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum from the University of Oklahoma. In 2004, she earned National Board Teacher Certification. She gained her administration certification in 2003.
Celeste Claggett is is the Elementary Principal, working with students in Kindergarten – 5th grade. She joined OVCA in 2011 as an elementary teacher then moved to the lead teacher position in 2012. She's worked in education for 10 years and continues to focus on putting students first and helping them succeed. She attended the University of Oklahoma for elementary education and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in educational leadership.
Sandra Powell is the Middle School Principal serving students in grades 6th–8th. She has more than 20 years of educational experience in both private and public schools in Indiana and Oklahoma. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with majors in biology, chemistry and a minor in physical science from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana and holds a Master's Degree in Curriculum Design and Development from Grand Canyon University.
Christopher Pitts received his Associate of Arts in History from the Oklahoma City Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Education degree in Instructional Leadership & Academic Curriculum from OU. He has 10 years of experience in education. Before becoming the High School Principal, he taught History and was a Learning Coach for seven years to his children attending OVCA.
Courtney Love rejoined the staff of OVCA as the Operations Manager in October of 2013. She received her bachelors in early childhood education in 1999 from the University of Central Oklahoma. Courtney taught seven years as an elementary teacher in a brick and mortar school and taught two years with K12 for OKVA. She is pleased to be serving in this position and looks forward to what the future holds for our students and staff.
Nicole Ellison is the Federal Programs, English Learner, and Gifted & Talented Coordinator. She also supports parental training and involvement schoolwide. This is her 8th year with OVCA and every year she continues to maintain a passion for watching students in the virtual setting succeed. Nicole graduated from Rogers State University with her bachelor's degree and graduated from Capella University with her MBA in 2015. She is Oklahoma State certified in Elementary Education and English/Language Arts for grades 6–12. She has experience teaching in both the public and private school settings in Oklahoma.
Kimberly Brown joined OVCA in 2016 as Special Education Manager. Kimberly holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Oklahoma. While completing her Master of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Central Oklahoma, Kimberly achieved specialist-level certification in School Psychology. She began her career in education as an elementary school teacher and practicing as a school psychologist since 2006. As a school psychologist, Kimberly worked with children, youth, families, and educators to prevent and solve individual, school, and family-related problems. She believes all children and youth have a right accomplish meaningful goals and maximize their full potential.
Cady Looper is the Family Engagement Administrator. The FAST program at OVCA empowers students to overcome challenges—be they academic, social, emotional, medical, or otherwise—to succeed in school and beyond. Cady graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2004 with a bachelors in Elementary Education. She joined OVCA in 2010 and taught elementary for 5 years before transitioning to lead the FAST team in 2015. This school year will be her 14th year in education and 8th year at OVCA. Cady lives in OKC with her husband and two little girls.
Heather Miles is the School Data
& Accountability Manager. She graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 2011 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 2017, she graduated with Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. She has taught third and fourth grades in brick and mortar. For OVCA, she has served as a MS Language Arts teacher, MS PE teacher, and a MS lead teacher. She is certified in Elementary Education, Middle School English, and PE.
Jill Dry is the Learning Support Specialist. She received a bachelor's degree in Special Education in 2004 and a master's degree in Guidance & Counseling in 2005 from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Jill previously taught and served as a school counselor in a brick and mortar setting before arriving at OVCA. Jill spent three years as an OVCA high school counselor where her passion deepened for helping students identify personal avenues for educational success. She is excited to work closely with our families and staff as we watch our students grow and achieve their goals.
Alissa Selby earned her bachelor's degree in English education from Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow and has five years of teaching experience in middle and high school English. Previously an OVCA middle school teacher, Ms. Selby is honored to be the Local Development Manager.
Angie Foust holds a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Newman University and a Master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Emporia State University. She has over 19 years of experience in education, having taught students ranging from grades 1–12 in three different states over the course of her career. She joined OVCA in 2009 as a teacher and moved into the high school principal position in 2011. Angie Foust transitioned into the Compliancy Coordinator position in January of 2015 and also serves as the Title IX Coordinator.
